Germany-based Schott Pharma has announced plans to establish a new production center in Jagodina, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. The new facility is expected to be operational by mid-2025, marking a development for both the company and the region.

Schott Pharma, a subsidiary of the renowned Schott AG, aims to expand its influence in the field of pharmaceutical packaging through its new facility in Serbia. It is planned to initially employ 130 workers with ambitions to increase this number to 350 as the scale of operations increases.

Located in central Serbia, Jagodina offers logistical advantages that are crucial for the company's production and distribution. Schott Pharma's decision to choose Jagodina is in line with a wider trend among a number of pharmaceutical companies that recognize the strategic and economic potential of Eastern Europe as a manufacturing and export base.

Although the financial details of the investment remain undisclosed, the implications for the local economy will be tangible. This project promises to provide not only jobs, but also the transfer of experience and technology to the Serbian workforce, positioning Jagodina as a growing center in the pharmaceutical industry.

The investment in Jagodina is proof of Schott Pharma's confidence in the stability and growth prospects of the economic environment in Serbia, and also reflects the company's strategy to diversify its production locations to better serve global markets amid growing demand for high quality medical packaging solutions.
