The German company Sulzer announced plans to create a development center in Sofia, Bulgaria, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Economic.bg. The company specializes in the development of automotive software for some of the leading car manufacturers such as BMW, Audi, Daimler, Man, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Seat, Volkswagen, Skoda and others.
The company's plans include an investment of about BGN 3 million in the new development center, through which, in addition to a high-tech building, about 100 new jobs for highly qualified IT specialists will be created. It's all part of the company's strategy of "nearshoring" (ie, shortening supply chains) in the automotive industry.
Sulzer already has several development centers in Germany, Hungary and Spain, and is now adding Sofia to its locations. The announcement of the investment was made by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, after a meeting with representatives of the company. Together, they concluded that the development of software in the automotive industry is essential for Bulgaria and the country has the right conditions to become a regional center for the development of companies from this sector.
