The French company Air Liquide is planning an investment amounting to 100 million euro for a new system for separating the atmosphere’s air into its main components – nitrogen and oxygen, BalkanEngineer.com learned from BTA. The project will also include the modernization of four existing similar facilities in Germany and Bulgaria, which will supply the German concern for metal mining and processing Aurubis.
The new installation will be located in Western Bulgaria and will replace old existing equipment. As a result, greater amounts of oxygen and nitrogen will be produced (using 7% less electricity), that will be supplied to support the production of copper and other precious metals by Aurubis.
In Germany, the French company will renovate four air separation installation at Aurubis’ sites, which are expected to be completed and put into operation in 2027, along with the plant in Bulgaria. Air Liquide maintains a long-term partnership with the German concern Aurubis, which extends for more than 25 years.
In Bulgaria, Air Liquide supplies gases to more than 600 customers, including craftsman’s firms, medium-sized enterprises, as well as international companies in the steel, metalworking, chemical and food industries. Globally, the French company is present in 75 countries and has 66400 employees.
