Elica Yard, a Bulgarian vessel manufacturer, has announced the start of serial production of catamarans in Silistra, BalkanEnigneer.com has learned from Economy.bg. With its new site, dedicated and prepared especially for this purpose, the company is building a powerful platform for innovation in maritime transport and opening doors to the world scene of shipbuilding.
Covering an area of 2,043 m², the new Elica Yard base is designed to encompass all the production processes required to create high-quality catamarans. Three separate areas in the workroom will facilitate production efficiency, ensuring careful and precise production of every detailed part.
According to the statement of the manager of the company, Mr. Kaloyan Radulov, the expected volume of production is up to 5 catamarans per year, subject to compliance with all constructive requirements for them. The first prototype is currently being developed and has already been sold to a customer. It is expected to be put into service by September 2024. The time required for the production and assembly of one boat is about a year on average, but Mr. Radulov says that in production, several catamarans can be worked on at the same time .
In addition to the new building and equipment, Elica Yard's investment also includes the gradual hiring of workers, reflecting the manufacturer's ambitious plans to expand the team. The company expects to hire three to five new workers per month.
