Electric bicycle manufacturer Technibike has decided to leave its production facilities in Stassfurt, Germany, and move its operations to Eastern Europe, specifically Bulgaria, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Economic.bg. The company is known for brands such as HoheAcht, Pyro-Bikes and Cooper.
The decision to move production to Bulgaria was made after careful analysis of changing national conditions. The company explained that the manufacturing conditions in Germany had deteriorated significantly, especially during the years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Compared to other European countries, Germany faced almost triple the energy costs and significantly higher personnel costs, which Technibike said made it very difficult to produce at competitive prices.
It is unclear at this time whether Technibike plans to build a new plant in Bulgaria or will use existing production facilities. The company has expressed its intention to expand cooperation with an established partner in Eastern Europe specialising in the production of high-quality electric bicycles.
Technibike further states that the relocation of production will allow to optimise delivery reliability and product quality. The company will retain its logistics and service bases in Stassfurt, Germany, to make it easier for dealers to order spare parts.
