Dutch automated logistics and cold chain logistics company NewCold is officially entering the Romanian market after acquiring a 9-ha plot of land from Belgian logistics property developer Warehouses De Pauw (WDP) for a previously undisclosed sum, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Seenews.com.
The company plans to construct an automated cold storage warehouse in northern Bucharest, near the A0 ring road. The facility is expected to be fully operational next year, providing services to customers across the region.
The site has been fully prepared by WDP and meets NewCold's requirements in terms of utilities, infrastructure and urban design parameters, providing optimal conditions for the new facility.
Founded in 2012, NewCold employs 2 500 people and operates 22 automated warehouses on three continents, with a total capacity of over 1.5 million pallet positions, and the new facility significantly expands its global presence in cold chain logistics.
WDP is a leader in developing and investing in logistics properties, such as warehouses and offices across Europe, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Romania. In July, WDP's Romanian division acquired 136 374 m² of lettable space and a 300 000 m² plot from the Global Vision and Globalworth joint venture, further solidifying its market presence.
