Romanian electricity and natural gas distributor Delgaz Grid has completed a 37.2 million lei ($8.2 million/€7.5 million) project to upgrade five substations, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Transformers-magazine.com. The sites are located in the eastern Vaslui county and supply electricity to 40,000 customers in the towns of Husi and Murgeni and the municipalities of Stanilesti, Vetrisoara and Falciu.
Of the total project costs, 23 million lei were covered by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), 4 million lei were provided by the state budget and 10.2 million lei were Delgaz Grid's own resources. The project includes the replacement of high and medium voltage equipment and the integration of substations into an intelligent grid management system.
Delgaz Grid operates a natural gas network of 25,800 km in twenty counties and an 81,500 km electricity network in six counties in northern and western Romania. The company is a subsidiary of German utility E.ON.
