German automotive giant Continental has announced that it will make a €150 million investment to expand its plant in Novi Sad, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Bnnbreaking.com. The move underlines Continental's commitment to growth as well as the growing potential of the Serbian automotive industry.
The investment in the Novi Sad plant is a strategic decision by Continental that aims to strengthen the company's presence in the region while causing a ripple effect for economic growth and job creation.
One of the most significant impacts of Continental's expansion plans is the addition of 1,500 new jobs to the current 1,900 in Novi Sad. This surge in employment opportunities is expected to invigorate the local workforce and contribute to improving the socio-economic landscape of the region.
At the heart of the investment lies Continental's state-of-the-art facility focused on the production of cutting-edge automotive interior solutions, which opened in 2023 and spans 30,000 m2. In addition to this factory, Continental's Novi Sad operations include an electronic systems manufacturing facility and a research and development (R&D) center. Continental also operates a plant specialising in tubular systems for vehicle engines in the neighbouring town of Subotica.
