Renewable energy producer Mey Energy has completed the construction of a 55 MW photovoltaic facility in Novacsi in Northern Macedonia, which is currently the largest such facility in the region, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Balkangreennews.com. The system was built next to the Suvodol open pit mine.
Mey Energy, founded in 2020, announced that it will start producing electricity as soon as possible, with the new facility having an expected annual output of 85 GWh, equivalent to the electricity needs of 30,000 households.
The Novati photovoltaic park was built in just ten months and the investment is worth EUR 40 million. The facility covers 57 ha, consists of 101 000 panels and includes over 856 km of cables. Construction started in November 2022 and all the contractors for the project are from North Macedonia.
The company revealed that the Novacı unit will have a lifetime of 25 years and said it will sell the electricity on the open market, mostly in the country.
