Chinese heavy-duty truck and bus manufacturer Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing (SHAC) plans to build a plant in Novi Sad, Serbia, that will produce chassis for the European market and create 150 jobs, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from investmentmonitor.ai. The factory will be located in the CTPark Novi Sad East industrial zone and is expected to open by the end of 2025.
The deal was signed during Novi Sad Mayor Milan Duric's visit to the SHAC plant in Shanghai. Duric stressed that the new plant will contribute to the region's economy and improve Novi Sad's global position by becoming SHAC's first European manufacturing facility.
With this step, SHAC aims to expand its presence in the European vehicle market, continuing a tradition in heavy truck manufacturing that dates back to 1958 when the company assembled its first truck in China.
