Serbia's BIO4 research facility will be completed by the end of 2026, making the country one of Europe's most advanced biotechnology hubs, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Srbija.gov.rs.
Preparatory work on the BIO4 campus will begin in early 2024, and in the future it will bring together 1,400 professors and researchers, 4,000 students, over 1,000 PhD students and 300 of the country's most advanced laboratories.
Funds will be invested primarily in healthcare research and development to develop innovative and advanced therapies. The idea is that every citizen will have the opportunity to receive personalized treatment and medication, and the main goal behind the construction of the campus is to best protect people's health and enhance their quality of life.
The Swiss company Swiss Rockets, for example, is already working on an innovative therapy to treat multiple sclerosis together with the Serbian Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy.
