Aurubis Bulgaria, a leading copper producer, has signed a contract for a project to rebuild a copper smelting furnace located in Bulgaria's Zlatishko-Pirdop basin with technology company Metso, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from globalminingreview.com. Metso's Outotec® Flash Smelting Furnace technical solution and related technologies were implemented at the Bulgarian primary copper smelting plant as early as 1987. Since then, various upgrades and improvements have been carried out at regular intervals in close cooperation between the two companies. The previous refurbishment of the fast melting furnace was carried out in 2016.
The scope of the new order includes the supply of new, advanced Outotec® cooling elements and associated consultancy services to support the refurbishment project, thereby enabling Aurubis Bulgaria to improve the efficiency and production capacity of its facilities and continue to provide its customers with high quality products and services, meeting their needs in the best possible way.
