Turkey is among Bulgaria's leading trade and economic partners outside the European Union, and Turkish companies are among the biggest investors in our country. This is what BalkanEngineer.com learned from Offnews.bg. For 2022, the trade turnover is record high and exceeds 7.3 billion euros. This is a 40% growth compared to 2021.

During the official opening of the Bulgarian-Turkish Business Forum held in Bansko, with the participation of more than 250 companies from both countries, Turkey's Ambassador to our country H. Amb. Aylin Sekizkök highlighted the good relations between the two countries especially in the spheres of security, energy, trade and investment. The Ambassador also stressed that there are already more than 2,200 Turkish companies in Bulgaria and their interest in investing in Bulgaria is growing significantly.

These ambitions are also visible in the intention of a Turkish company to invest 50 million euros in the modernization and expansion of its production in Shumen. Alkommet AD will invest the funds in new buildings, machinery and equipment this year. The company has established itself in the production of parts for the automotive sector, and with this investment it will also start producing for the aviation industry.

The business forum in Bansko is being held for the second time and is organised by the Bulgarian-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The focus of the event is automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, construction, energy furniture, IT and outsourcing, consulting and tourism services. The aim of the forum is to intensify bilateral ties between business representatives, provide opportunities for exchange of experience, ideas, expertise, as well as opening new opportunities for partnerships and development in the country and the region.
