The Chief Executive of UK Export Finance (UKEF), Tim Reid, has met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Finance Minister Delina Ibrahimaj to cement their ambition for a closer export relationship between the UK and Albania in a planned £4 billion deal. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from Businessleader.co.uk.
Tim Reid said there were significant opportunities for UK business in Albania. The volume of trade with Albania is increasing dramatically, showing the huge appetite for British exports. It is with UKEF's support that more companies will be able to reap the benefits of exports and the relationship with Albania.
A closer relationship with Albania will unlock a new phase of cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare and transport. Last year the countries celebrated the 100th anniversary of their trade relationship. Deals struck between the two countries will help grow their economies, support job creation and help deliver the wider agenda of raising living standards.
A trade relationship worth £4 billion would mean a minimum value of £800 million for British business. This is because Albanian buyers would be required to source from the UK supply chain under the terms of UKEF funding.
