Serbia's Ministry of Public Investment has opened a tender for the development of infrastructure within the science and technology parks in the southern cities of Nis and Cacak, as well as the construction of a new industrial park in Krusevac, worth a total of EUR 70 million, BalkanEngineer.com was informed by Seenews.com. Construction work is expected to start in January 2024.
A total of 1,600 engineers are planned to be employed at the industrial parks once completed. The new facility in Nis will be built in the northwestern part of the existing complex. It will have approximately 9 500 m2 of office space and between 900 and 1 000 m2 of laboratory space. The planned capacity of the facility is between 700 and 1,000 people.
The new building in Čačak will cover 12,700 m2, where more than 30 companies will operate, while the technology park in Krusevac will stretch over 16,000 m2, providing jobs for more than 200 people.
In June, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an €80 million loan agreement with Serbia, which will be used to finance the expansion of the country's network of technology parks.
