Romanian company Rompetrol Rafinare has started a complete overhaul of its Petromidia Navodari refinery, which is scheduled to be completed by April 26 this year, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Serbia-energy.eu. Implemented by Rominserv, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas International Group, the project aims to upgrade production units and improve safety.
During the 40-day refurbishment phase, major improvements will be implemented, including reactor replacements and upgrades to key units. This maintenance cycle, mandatory every four years, not only ensures the refinery is in good condition, but also sets the stage for future investment and improved production capabilities.
Despite the temporary suspension of operations, the Rompetrol refinery remains committed to securing its domestic fuel needs and existing contracts.
With majority ownership by KMG International and a significant government stake, Rompetrol Rafinare remains sustainable despite financial challenges. The company's commitment to innovation and operational excellence continues as it moves through the turnaround phase.
