The output of the two Romanian car manufacturers Dacia/Renault and Ford (Otosan) increased by almost 5% in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2022. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from Romania-insider.com.
In 2022, the number of new vehicles will increase by 2.5%. Romania has produced, for the first time in its history, more than 500,000 cars. However, officials from the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania (ACAROM) expect the industry's turnover to return to 2019 levels only (31 billion euros).
Despite the generally positive results for Q1 2023, vehicle production slowed slightly in March, falling nearly 3% y/y to 55,428 units. Of these, 35,610 were assembled at Dacia, up 2% compared to March 2022, and 19,818 at Ford Otosan Craiova, down 11% compared to the same period last year.
