A Romanian investor plans to build a factory for the production of profiled sheet metal in the Rakovski industrial zone, part of the Thracian Economic Zone (TIZ), located near Plovdiv, Bulgaria, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from BTA. The investor's intentions were officially announced by Martin Kolev, a representative of the investment firm Joris ide, during a meeting between companies from the zone and representatives of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held at the TEZ Event Center.

In 2021, Joris ide decided to invest in the construction of a plant in Bulgaria and join the TEZ. The company already owns a 20-acre property for the future plant, which is expected to start operations towards the end of 2024.

Usually, most of the investments between the two neighbouring countries are of Bulgarian companies investing in Romania, but in the last two years there has been an increase in the reverse process, explained Eleonora Ivanova, executive director of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. More and more Romanian companies are looking for opportunities to use warehouses in Bulgaria, and the reason for this is the difficulty of transporting goods across the Bulgarian-Romanian border.

The Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry includes 100 active companies and has been working for 20 years to improve bilateral business relations between the countries. About 75% of the member companies are Bulgarian, with the greatest interest from companies in the food industry.
