Romanian organic farming raw material producer Norofert has announced that it has invested 3 million lei in the first phase of the construction of a medium-sized research laboratory. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from SeeNews.com. The second phase of the project, scheduled to start by the end of 2024, will bring the total investment in the project to over 6 million lei (1.3 million USD/1.2 million EUR).

Located on the premises of Norofert's raw materials factory in Filippestii de Padure, the laboratory will be used to research and propagate microorganisms for agricultural applications.

"Research and development of new products represents for Norofert the main vector of growth in the medium and long term and the strongest differentiator in the European market, where the majority of manufacturers do not have a research department in their companies," commented Vlad Popescu, president of Noroferts board of directors, on the subject.

Founded in 2000, Norofert is the main producer of organic fertilizers in Romania. The company has three business lines: production of raw materials for organic and conventional agriculture, organic farming and grain trading.
