Romanian electricity and natural gas distributor Delgaz Grid, a subsidiary of German company E.ON, has announced plans to overhaul 44 transformer stations in six northeastern counties of the country, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. The extensive project, valued at 1.5 billion lei (301.4 million euros), is expected to be completed by 2030, covering the counties of Bacău, Botosani, Iași, Neamts, Suceava and Vaslui.
The planned activities are focused on improving medium and high voltage equipment, upgrading control and measurement circuits and increasing the capacity of the stations by installing 70 power transformers. In addition, the project includes the integration and upgrade of SCADA systems and the installation of photovoltaic panels.
Delgaz Grid has submitted funding requests to the European Union's Modernization Fund, aiming for 1.1 billion lei in financial assistance. This modernization initiative is part of wider ambitions of the company, which has so far submitted a total of 20 projects worth 3.3 billion lei to the Modernization Fund, seeking funding of 2.6 billion lei. Of these, six projects worth 900 million lei have already secured 700 million lei of funding.
Delgaz Grid's operations cover the management of a 25,800 km natural gas network in twenty counties and an 81,500 km electricity network in six northeastern counties of Romania.
