E.ON Romania announced the successful completion of the test for mixing gas and hydrogen in the country's gas transmission network and using the mixture for household needs, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Balkangreennews.com. This is the first such experience in the country.
Delgaz Grid, the distribution company of E.ON Romania, presented the conclusions of the 20HyGrid pilot project to representatives of the Ministry of Energy and the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE). The company is testing both in laboratory conditions and in the field the technical possibility of supplying households with a mixture of natural gas (80%) and hydrogen (20%) through the existing natural gas infrastructure to identify a solution for partial decarbonization of district heating.
The pilot project shows that this approach is feasible, safe and poses no additional risks. The main components of the existing natural gas distribution network are now ready to accept hydrogen, Delgaz Grid also emphasizes. At the same time, the mixture has a lower concentration of polluting gases such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.
