OMV Petrom, a large-scale energy company in Southeast Europe, will acquire a 50% stake in Electrocentrale Borzești from RNV Infrastructure, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Energynomics.ro. Electrocentrale Borzești has a renewable energy portfolio with a capacity of approximately 1 GW, including 950 MW of wind and 50 MW of photovoltaic. The projects will be developed, constructed and operated in partnership with RNV Infrastructure.
In addition, OMV Petrom will fully acquire Renovatio Asset Management, owner of the largest electric vehicle charging network in Romania, with over 400 charging points, with growth prospects to approximately 650 by 2026.
Through this newly formed partnership, OMV Petrom together with Renovatio plans to invest around €1.3 billion by 2027, including bank financing, in renewable energy in Romania. OMV Petrom's contribution to the acquisition and construction of these projects is estimated at up to EUR 350 million.
The transactions are expected to close in the first half of 2024, subject to certain conditions.
