Biovet-Clone Razgrad, a Bulgarian manufacturer of animal feed additives and medicines, has launched an innovative project to produce vaccines for industrial livestock production, BalkanEnigeer.com has learned from BTA. The new plant will focus on the production of vaccines for poultry, pigs and cattle, with an investment of nearly BGN 140 million.
Ms Temenuga Gazdova, director of Biovet-Clone Razgrad, explained that the investment is concentrated on building a modern plant to meet the high standards of veterinary medicine. The facility has equipment and technological processes that can easily be used for the production of human medicines. However, the focus of the new plant remains veterinary, with 95% of the products produced targeted at the industrial livestock industry. GMP Good Manufacturing Practice certification is also an important achievement of the plant, ensuring high standards of production.
The creation of 300 jobs is planned, and 70 people have been hired initially. Processes are fully automated and equipment has been purchased mainly from Germany and Italy. The plant is currently in the pre-production stage and was formally presented to nearly 50 executives and managers associated with Juvepharma plc, which owns Biovet.
An "Open Day" is to be organised to give the general public an opportunity to see the new vaccine production plant in Razgrad.
