Swiss food giant Nestle has opened a plant-based food factory in Belgrade's Surcin district following an investment of over 80 million euros, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com.
The factory spans 18,000 m2 and will employ 220 people, a Serbian government press release revealed.
According to Marjana Davidovic, Nestle's general director for Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia, the new production facility took two years to build and the company wants to continue investing in the country.
Nestle opened its first factory in Serbia in 2012 after acquiring Serbian food and beverage manufacturer Centroproizvod. Zagreb-based Nestle Adriatic, founded in 2003, is responsible for Nestle's operations in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Kosovo.
