JFE Shoji Corporation has begun construction of a cutting-edge metal parts factory for electric motors in Injija, Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Serbia-business.eu. Representing an investment of approximately €50 million, the extensive facility, covering 18,000 ha, is the company's first production unit in Europe. The factory is expected to begin operations in early 2025, initially employing around 150 people.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the factory, which was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Japanese Ambassador to the country Akira Imamura, demonstrated the joint efforts between the Serbian government and JFE Shoji Corporation. The project was also subsidised by the government with €2.86 million, reflecting Serbia's commitment to promoting investment and technological advancement in the region.
Yoshitsugu Kobayashi, CEO of JFE Shoji Corporation, emphasised the company's drive to use advanced technology to support the automotive and electrical industries across Europe.
Founded in 1954, JFE Shoji Corporation has a significant presence in the steel industry, operating in Southeast Asia, China and North America with a workforce of over 8,500 people. The launch of operations in Europe is an important milestone in the company's global expansion strategy and promises economic growth and technological advancement for Serbia and the region.
