Battery manufacturer Lovak InoBat has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance of Serbia and the city authorities of Ćuprijā, to build a facility for the production and recycling of electric vehicle batteries. BalkanEnigeer.com has learned this from SeeNews.com.
The plant in Ćuprija will assemble energy storage systems and batteries for electric vehicles and will have facilities for recycling batteries. The project is backed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Serbian government will provide a financial incentive worth €419 million.
The company's CEO Marian Bocek commented that one of the reasons why InoBat chose Ćuprija was the potential to co-develop its own smart grid for distributed energy and renewable electricity for self-consumption.
