Holcim Romania has made an investment of more than EUR 25 million to increase the production capacity of its cement plant in Kampulung by approximately 20%. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from Romania-insider.com. Before the modernization, the company had produced 2,300 tons of cement for the last 8 years.
The investment comes 15 years after the implementation of another major modernization project at the plant, worth more than EUR 100 million. It aims to meet the existing need for cement in Romania's construction market, but also to strengthen Holcim's efforts towards sustainable operations, streamlining the logistics process and reducing the volume of CO2 emissions from long-distance transportation of construction materials.
To date, Holcim, the market leader in building materials in Romania, is active in the local market with its two production sites.
