German company Bizerba, which develops and markets weighing and slicing technologies, has opened a factory in Valevo, Serbia. Work on the facility began in March last year, when it was announced that around 400 employees would work there. The investment is worth more than EUR 33 million. This is what BalkanEngineer.com learned from Ekapija.com. In the first stage, about 300 workers will be employed and the average net salary will be over 1,100 euros.
The final size of the facility, which consists of prefabricated logistics and administrative spaces, will amount to approximately 11,000 m2. The structure requires over 340 pre-cast concrete parts, including columns and beams.
The first scales were manufactured and delivered to customers in February this year, and the state-of-the-art factory has created entirely new automation and process digitalization capabilities.
Over the next year, Bizerba plans to develop a global strategic platform to manufacture a whole range of scales designed for commercial sites. The company is one of the world leaders in the manufacture of scales and the supply of hardware and software solutions in the field of weighing, cutting and labelling technologies.
