Kostal to invest to produce chargers for electric and hybrid vehicles in North Macedonia

A new investment of the German company for the production of parts and components for the automotive industry, Kostal, was announced during a meeting of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bitici with the management of Kostal Group. Kostal Macedonia's new investment project in Ohrid for the production of chargers for electric and hybrid vehicles will be implemented between July 2023 and December 2026 with a total value of almost 50 million euros.

 

Together with the previous two phases, the company's total realized investments in Macedonia will reach EUR 150 million. The number of new jobs to be created additionally for this investment cycle will be over 300 people.

 

During the meeting, the director of KOSTAL Macedonia, Victor Mizo, informed that so far the company has invested over 100 million euros in the factory in Ohrid, and the plan is to start production with the introduction of the latest SAC (Smart Actuator Charging) technologies and charging systems from the Volkswagen Group, they will be installed in the latest models of: Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat, Audi and Porsche. The charging systems of these global brands for all hybrid and electric vehicles will be manufactured in the Republic of North Macedonia. KOSTAL Macedonia will become the only global location where these power electronics systems will be manufactured, regardless of where the vehicles are assembled.

 

In addition, the company will also invest in the production of the latest roof modules that use the latest SkinTec technology, which is used for Daimler's most exclusive models such as: the Mercedes EQS, EQE, C+S CLASS, AMG SL.
