The Chinese company Punai, which produces refractory materials, is renovating one of Magnohrom's production facilities in Kraljevo, Serbia. This is what BalkanEnggineer.com learned from Serbianmonitor.com.
The factory, built in the late 1980s, previously produced firebricks, but closed its doors in the 1990s. It was sold to Punai in 2021, and the Chinese company immediately began renovating the facilities and installing state-of-the-art machinery and equipment.
The first phase of the investment is in the amount of about 7 million euros, and the facility will open on June 6 of this year. Punai is counting on an initial annual production of 30,000 t and will continue to invest in the plant, with the next investment expected to be around €3 million. The main goal of the Chinese company is to reach an annual production volume of 50,000 t of bricks. Initially, the factory will employ about 100 workers.
"The facility will be the most advanced and one of the best of its kind in Europe in this industry segment," said Liu Liangbing, vice president of the corporation from China.
The local authority has invested a significant amount of money in the reconstruction of the infrastructure on site, including the construction of a northern bypass.
