The Titan Usie cement plant is one of the leading companies in North Macedonia actively implementing circular economy practices by using alternative fuels such as rice husk and textile waste. From 2020 to 2024, about 5% of the heat energy of the kilns in Usie comes from non-fossil fuels, which reduces the use of fossil resources and supports decarbonisation in cement production, BalkanEngineer.com learned from biznisvesti.mk.
During the "National Workshop on Consolidating the Institutional Framework for the Transition to a Circular Economy in North Macedonia," Natasha Bakreska, Environment and Alternative Fuels Manager at Usier, highlighted the company's commitment to sustainable practices and how the use of biomass and textile waste can contribute to its environmental responsibility. Usier also produces low-carbon cement and has reduced its CO2 emissions by 2,600t in 2023, equivalent to taking 560 cars off the road annually.
Titan Usie aims to reduce the share of clinker in cement from 70% to 63% by 2030, and thus contribute to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050. Through its activities, Usie supports North Macedonia's efforts to transition to a circular economy, focusing on improving the environment and achieving climate goals.
