In a significant effort to strengthen economic ties, the Bulgarian Embassy in Skopje recently organized a meeting targeting Bulgaria-related business activities in the Republic of North Macedonia, BalkanEnigineer.com learned from BTA. The event highlighted the growing volume of trade between the two countries and the potential for further economic cooperation despite some infrastructural challenges.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the impressive growth of bilateral trade over the past few years. Trade volume between Bulgaria and North Macedonia exceeded €1 billion in 2022, reached €1.2 billion in 2023 and is on track for record growth in 2024. Growing exports from North Macedonia to Bulgaria signal a growing interest in the Bulgarian market among Macedonian businesses.
Attention was also drawn to the delay in the construction of a critical rail link and other important infrastructure projects. However, the emphasis of the event remained on good business relations and opportunities.
