BMW Group is expanding its global network with a new IT and software center in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in cooperation with NTT DATA, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Autozona.bg. The new BMW TechWorks Romania center will focus on European projects and accelerate the company's digital transformation.
The plan for the BMW Technology Center in Romania is to double the workforce to 250 developers by the end of the year and reach over 1,000 employees in the long term. The new unit becomes part of the brand's global IT network, which includes locations in Germany, China, Portugal, the USA and South Africa.
BMW Group IT Senior Vice President Alexander Buresh emphasized the importance of the new center for the digital customer experience and the strategic importance of cloud innovation and AI. Cluj-Napoca was chosen because of its favorable ecosystem and the presence of a large number of IT professionals.
