The Albanian capital Tirana hosted the Cassini Hackathon technology event for the first time between 13th and 15th September this year, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Albaniatech.org. This year’s edition of the event, supported by the European Commission, took place in a total of 10 European countries.
Cassini Hackathon took place under the title “Environment and Green Transition”, with ICTSlab as organizer in Tirana. The teams from Albania that participated in the competition presented a wide variety of projects, including combining cement and moss to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, a fire prevention system using machine learning, and a platform for landscaping and promoting the use of bicycles.
The young participants worked tirelessly for 72 hours, committing to achieve excellent results in solving the climate challenges using data from the European Union’s space programme. The innovative ideas were presented in the form of presentations followed by question and answer time.
The first place was won by “CROPVISOR” team, which developed a data-based consulting concept for farmers for planting the most productive crops in certain geographic areas.
