Albania and Germany will strengthen their cooperation in managing risks arising from climate change through the new program "ALBAdapt", BalkanEnigeer.com has learned from BTA. The Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, and the German Ambassador to Albania, Karl Bergner, signed an agreement aimed at improving Albania's meteorological system by creating an early warning system of international standards.

"The measures to be taken are not just theoretical. Municipalities, the community, institutions, agencies and government must act together," Kumbaro stated. Bergner emphasized the importance of the project to more accurate forecasts and saving lives in extreme weather conditions.

The project aims to increase Albania's adaptation capacity and resilience to climate change through a national hydrometeorological service and a functional framework for climate services. Thanks to the support of Germany, Switzerland and the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Albania will receive over €36 million to prepare for climate change.
