A solar agro power plant will be built on an area of 500 ha in eastern Serbia. This is what BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Ekapija.com. The investment in the 300 MW photovoltaic facility comes from Cyprus.
The Serbian municipality of Kladovo has released for public review the draft detailed development plan for the construction of the Kladovo Solar Gate solar power plant. The plan was made available for early public review last fall, and the investor is ERG Renewables Ltd Beograd, founded in 2019, whose owner ERG Investments LTD is registered in Cyprus.
The plan calls for the installation of about 300 MW of panels, covering an area of about 582.94 ha in the eastern part of the municipality of Kladovo, 5 km from the city centre, in the cadastral municipalities of Vazuga, Kladovo, Ž. Kladushnitsa, Podvarska and Rechitsa. The area is mostly low quality agricultural land.
The plan highlights that in the area of solar power it is possible to apply innovative solutions through the agrosolar concept, which includes livestock or agricultural production with simultaneous production of electricity.
The implementation of solar panels that partially, in a certain percentage, transmit sunlight, allows the protection of agricultural crops from extreme weather conditions, but also prevents potential conflict when agricultural land is used for electricity production. In order to make this possible, the construction of sites for agricultural production, livestock farms, etc. is permitted in the area of the solar plant.
