JSC "Power Plants of North Macedonia" has signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a grant investment for the project "Oslomei 1 Photovoltaic Power Plant", which will be obtained through the Western Balkans Investment Framework, BalkanEngieer.com has learned from Makfax.com.mk.
The investment grant, worth more than EUR 1.5 million, is expected to be used for the purchase and installation of a photovoltaic power plant, with the purpose of the grant being financial support for the plant's costs, which include the purchase of equipment, civil works and activities related to the installation of the machinery.
The 10 MW Oslomei 1 photovoltaic power plant started producing its first amounts of clean and green electricity from the sun last April. It was built within the Oslomey mining and energy complex and is the first example of an energy transition in South-East Europe where electricity will be produced from the sun by panels located on an old and inactive coal mine. It is also the first in a series of power plants to completely replace the installed capacity at the Oslomey mining and energy complex.
The plant is expected to have an annual production of 15 to 17 gigawatt hours of electricity, emit 13,000 tonnes of CO2 per year and provide the electricity needs of around 2,800 households.
