Automation of logistical processes in pharmaceutical distribution continues to develop at a fast pace, as more often, intelligent conveyor systems are integrated, capable of meeting complex requirements for efficiency, tracking and safety. One example of such a transformation is the project for a new conveyor by STAMH Group at the automated storage facility in Sofia, belonging to Sopharma Trading – leading pharmaceutical distributor in Bulgaria and Serbia. "Sopharma Trading operates one of the most modern logistics bases in the Balkans, with the regional distribution center in Sofia representing a highly automated pharmaceutical warehouse with a complex material flow. All basic logistics activities are carried out there - from receiving and picking, through assembly and cross-docking, to shipping and loading of AS/RS automated warehouse systems," STAMH Group told about this successfully implemented project.

It is for this dynamic environment that the necessity for a new automated segment came up, which optimizes the internal transport of picking containers from the zones for picking and crossdocking, and to ensure more effective handing of goods to automated cranes.

"Over the years, STAMH Group has established itself as a leader in the integration of dynamic multifunctional conveyor systems and MFL - Material Flow Systems, which provide highly efficient and organized intralogistics transport. The solution developed for Sopharma Trading includes a combined conveyor architecture combining belt and roller motorized conveyors," STAMH continued their comment.

The integration of existing AS/RS systems is achieved through PLC communication, which ensures synchronization of all buffer zones and uninterrupted feeding of automated racks. This way, the new conveyor turns into a natural part of the already built flow, without causing stops or slowdowns.

The is an automated critical logical segment with a length of over 140 meters, which leads to a significant increase in productivity. Manual transport is reduced, as well as the distances that need to be covered by the operators in the building. The installation at a height of 4.5 m allows for the preservation of full functionality of ground operations, while ensuring free movement of personnel and equipment.
