Eng. Aleksandar Georgiev from Saer Elettropompe: The pump's vertical support structure is a critical structural component

"The successful installation and operation of a pump begins long before its actual implementation and start-up," commented Eng. Alexander Georgiev — Regional Sales Representative for the Italian pump manufacturer Saer Elettropompe, covering Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, and Cyprus — to Engineer.BG. That which remains hidden to the operators and the end user, are the various tests and engineering behind the pumping system’s structure. To ensure the best quality for its customers, Saer relies on a highly qualified team as well as its own laboratories, equipped with state-of-the-art testing systems.

"The pump's vertical support structure is far more than just a base—it is a critical structural component that must withstand every phase of the equipment's lifecycle," noted Engineer Georgiev, explaining: "Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and modal analysis, Saer engineers evaluate stiffness, deformation, natural frequencies, and dynamic behavior to ensure the structure performs as intended—not only during pump operation but also during lifting, transport, loading, and unloading, when unexpected stresses can pose equally significant risks."

This activity is done with the help of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), a simulation in the company's research and development department. Naturally, that is the place where the pumps are created, involving various analyses, the study of fluid-structure interaction, and so on. Research and development, machining components, assembly of components, and testing—the full production process—take place at Saer’s facilities in Italy. The company has received the CRIBIS Prime Company certification for highest level of commercial reliability. "Only 7% of the more than 6 million companies in Italy hold this certification. It is based on dynamic indicators that are constantly updated and take into account a multitude of variables, such as company experience, financial statements, and payment history," explained Eng. Georgiev.
