Artificial intelligence continues to become part of everyday business and more often, finds application in situations where human expertise was believed to be the only solution. Among these applications is the selection of personnel – a process where speed, accuracy and the ability to evaluate people are paramount. In the production sector, where the need for qualified people remains high, companies actively search for ways to optimize their processes. One such company is Multivac Bulgaria Production, part of the international Multivac group, specialized in the development of production solutions for packaging, processing, and labelling of products in the food, medical, and industrial sectors. For Diana Gesheva, junior HR specialist at the company, artificial intelligence has the potential to improve certain stages of the selection process but cannot replace the professional evaluation of HR specialists.

Diana Gesheva considers herself as an adopter regarding using AI for the selection process, if the technology is used reasonably and within the confines of clearly outlined requirements. "Artificial intelligence can be useful in the initial stages of selection, when a large number of applications are being processed and an initial selection needs to be made," she commented.

The automated review of CVs and sorting of candidates is among the functions that can save time and allow for HR teams to focus on providing a more in-depth review of candidates.

Despite the advantages of technology, Diana Gesheva also draws attention to potential risks. According to her, every automated system works according to predefined criteria, which creates the possibility that suitable candidates will remain out of the employer's field of vision. "There is always a risk that a person with good potential will be missed if the assessment is based solely on an algorithm," she is convinced.

For this reason, the final review is in the hands of HR specialists, which can view the professional profile at a wider context and consider factors, which are not easy to automatically review.
