The two largest automobile plants in Romania—Dacia’s in Mioveni and Ford Otosan’s in Craiova—are resuming production following their regular summer maintenance shutdown. The shutdown of the assembly lines allowed the companies to carry out scheduled annual maintenance on their equipment and prepare their facilities for the new production season, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the Romanian business publication Romania-Insider.

The summer shutdown is standard practice in the automotive sector. It is used to perform major repairs on machinery, implement new digital systems, and adapt equipment for new models. At the Dacia plant in Mioveni, thousands of workers are returning to their posts to continue assembling the popular Duster models, as well as the Sandero and Jogger lines.
At the same time, the Ford Otosan plant in Craiova is resuming regular assembly of its Puma and Transit Courier light commercial and passenger vehicles. The return to full capacity at both plants is of paramount importance to the Romanian economy, as the two companies account for a significant share of the country’s industrial exports and trade balance.
