The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced a new tender for the selection of contractor to finalize the construction of the Kumanovo-Kriva Palanka railway line in North Macedonia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the news agency Meta.mk.

The procedure for selection of a contractor for the 64.8 km long railway line will be implemented in two phases: pre-qualification and qualification. The construction company, which will be selected for the construction of the railway line, has to install the signaling and telecommunication infrastructure on the section from the town of Kumanovo to the village of Belyakovtse. The announced tender also states that the deadline for completion of the activities is 36 months.

The total value of the project is EUR 151 6700 00. The new tender was announced after the German company Vibe unilaterally terminated the contract for the construction of the first phase of the Kumanovo railway to Belyakovtse last year, after which the government decided to find a contractor for the second phase Belyakovtse - Kriva Palanka.

In the first quarter of 2021, a tender procedure for the selection of a new company that will control the construction works will be announced. The installation of the signaling and telecommunication infrastructure from the village of Belyakovtse to the town of Kriva Palanka will be realized through an additional tender, the announcement of which is planned for the beginning of 2023.
