The tender for acquisition of the petrochemical giant based in Panchevo, Serbia – Petrohemija, will start by the end of the year. Companies from Russia, Poland and Romania are interested in buying the enterprise, BalkanEngineer.com learned from SerbianMonitor.com.

While waiting for suitable investors, Petrohemija spends EUR 18 million on improving its plant and undergoing major overhaul. This is the company’s largest investment over the past three decades with the aim to increase its production by 23%.

By October this year, the Serbian company plans to build a fourth production line and a new packaging line at its ethylene factory and to introduce a new control system as well.

“The realization of the investment activities aims to increase the efficiency of the production process, to ensure lower energy consumption and thus to achieve better competitiveness on the market,” says Petrohemija’s CEO Velimir Unković.
