For the past decade many tech entrepreneurs have set up their companies in Serbia, BalkanEnginner.com learned from FinancialTimes.com, quoting Branko Milutinovic, one of the founders of Nordeus - a leading gaming company in the Western Balkans.

According to Milutinovic, the conditions for startups in Belgrade have developed significantly - apart from the gaming industry, there is a variety of sectors and business models.

The chief executive of Microsoft’s development centre in Belgrade - Dragan Tomic said that the conditions in the Serbian capital seem like those in the US state of Seattle - a fact he attributes to the technical disciplines students study at school since the of age of 11.

Eurostat statistics show that nearly 75 000 people are employed in the country's technology sector. In addition to the fact that Serbian specialists are returning from abroad, a quarter of the country's workforce is so-called foreign "digital nomads," FinancialTimes.com reported.
