By 2025, Serbia must start producing hydrogen from renewable energy sources in order to increase and reach the required amount, Balkanengineer.com has learned from Balkangreenenergynews.com. The world's leading economies and technology leaders have already begun the process of hydrogen transition, which is also imperative for Serbia.

The draft Hydrogen Strategy of the Republic of Serbia was prepared by 18 lecturers from the University of Belgrade. The participation of scientific experts in this process is crucial. And to draw attention to the importance of the topic, a Memorandum on Serbia's transition to hydrogen equipment, was published.

Radivoje Mitrovic, a professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, said it was crucial that the energy sector not only develops with different types of energy - coal, water, renewable energy sources, but also that the course of energy was based on knowledge, not natural resources. The project was presented at the regional chambers of commerce and industry, and Mitrovic added that the academic community is partly responsibile for the current situation in Serbia's energy sector.

According to experts, in order to catch up with the world's most developed countries, Serbia needs to mobilize national resources, academia, education and business as soon as possible and direct them to the development and use of hydrogen technologies.
