Albania receives European support for the construction of a large-scale solar power plant in Belsh

Albania receives support from European institutions for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in the area of the municipality of Belsh. The facility is part of the country's announced plan to diversify energy sources and reduce carbon emissions. The project will be implemented with the institutional support of the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and national authorities, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from local media Albanian Daily News.

The aim of the initiative is to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources in the country's energy mix and to promote sustainable investments within the framework of the so-called Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. The Bels photovoltaic plant is among the projects that will have a direct impact on local development, electricity stability and the environmental transformation of the region.

The project will be backed by legal, technical and institutional assistance under EU and EBRD programmes, as part of wider efforts to bring the Albanian energy sector closer to European standards. The support also includes advice aimed at its transparency, sustainability and social impact.
