To mark the 20th anniversary of the privatisation of Duvanska Industrija Nis, Philip Morris International (PMI) has announced a new US$100 million investment in Nis, Serbia. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from Serbianmonitor.com. This is a significant step towards realizing the company's core vision of "delivering a smoke-free future."

With the investment in its factory in Niš, the company, which has so far produced only traditional cigarettes there, will also launch the production of a new line of smokeless tobacco products mainly intended for export. Thanks to the new facility, around 200 new jobs will also be created.
With this investment, Philip Morris' total investment in the company's operations in Serbia will exceed USD 1 billion. On this occasion, Philip Morris Operations a.d. Nis (PMOP) and the Serbian government signed a memorandum of understanding.
