The construction of the Novi Sad - Subotica high-speed railway line will be completed as planned by the end of 2024, announced Goran Vesic, the Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, after a meeting of the working group that monitors the dynamics of work on the railway section. This is what BalkanEngineer.com learned from Serbianmonitor.com.
The Novi Sad - Subotica section is 108.2 km long, and the works include the construction of two railway lines leading to the border with Hungary, near the town of Celebia, and the reconstruction of nine railway stations. The construction of railway junctions in Novi Sad, Vrbas and Subotica is also planned.
The Novi Sad - Subotica section will have a total of 49 overpasses, underpasses and viaducts, with the largest viaduct to be built near Vrbas and be 1,600 m long.
By 2025, the high-speed rail line is expected to take less than three hours to travel between Belgrade and Budapest.
