The governments of North Macedonia and Greece had signed an agreement to construct a cross-border natural gas interconnector, BalkanEngineer.com learned from SeeNews.com. The contract is worth a total of 100 million euro, 54 million of which will be provided by North Macedonia.

The interconnector will help North Macedonia guarantee the gas supplies security and the gas market liquidity, as well as provide access to natural gas through the Southern Gas Corridor, which includes the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) and the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP).

The Greek Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas announced that thousands of workers will be hired for the construction of the interconnector that will connect Greeces and North Macedonias gas distribution networks.
