Kostal Macedonia will produce electric car chargers for Volkswagen

The German company, producing parts for the automotive industry, Kostal has made  a new investment in Ohrid, North Macedonia. Kostal Macedonia will produce chargers charges for electric and hybrid vehicles, starting in 2024, Balkanengineer.com learned from Izvoz.mk.

 

 

This large investment was announced during a visit to the factory by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs, Coordination of Economic Departments and Investments Fatmir Bytyqi, Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board of Kostal, Hansjorg Hermann, Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Otto Graf and the General Manager of Kostal Macedonia, Victor Mizo.

 

„So far Kostal has invested more than 100 million euro and the plan is from mid-2024 to produce all charging systems that are installed in the cars of the Volkswagen Group, which includes Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Octavia, Audi, Porsche. All future hybrid vehicles systems that will be used will be manufactured here. " This investment has the potential to be increased to 40 million euros and 350 new  jobs. This will be decided in the next two or three weeks during the negotiations with Volkswagen", said Victor Mizo.
